Congress Plans Nationwide Protests Amid Political Turmoil

During a crucial meeting on Thursday, Congress leaders addressed the controversial rejection of Meenakshi Natarajan's nomination for the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh. Party members from the state are being summoned to Delhi, where they are expected to strategize a protest and explore various legal avenues against what they perceive as a politically motivated decision. The Congress party has vowed to take a stand against this setback, insisting on its right to challenge the ruling.

In addition to this issue, the Congress leadership has outlined a comprehensive nationwide agitation campaign aimed at resonating with voters. “To take the message of the Modi regime’s misrule to the people, we will launch the nationwide campaign. From the block level to Parliament, we will mobilise all affected cohorts and send a strong message that we are with the ordinary people—while the Modi-led BJP is with the rich and powerful,” stated K.C. Venugopal, General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, on social media.

Venugopal highlighted pressing concerns such as persistent job insecurities and economic distress impacting families across India. He noted that marginalized communities, including SC, ST, and OBC groups, are bearing the brunt of systemic injustices. “Recurring paper leaks, unemployment and job insecurities are destroying the hopes of our Gen Z and youth. Families are facing severe strain as the economy goes into a tailspin destroying household budgets,” he emphasized.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh further criticized the BJP's attempts to push through delimitation, claiming that their efforts to consolidate power would ultimately fail. “Their ego was hurt after the Bill on delimitation was defeated in the House. That is why they are doing all this – getting MPs from other parties. Whatever the Home Minister may do, the BJP will not get a two-thirds majority in the Lok Sabha for getting the Delimitation Bill passed,” he said.

Sources revealed that Rahul Gandhi expressed confidence in Congress's resilience, asserting that it remains the only viable counter to the BJP and RSS. He believes that despite attempts to weaken the party, Congress will emerge stronger in the future. Ramesh also dismissed rumors of a potential merger with the Trinamool Congress, following recent high-profile meetings involving key party figures.
