Quad FMs Unite for Economic Resilience and Secure Supply Chains

During the recent meeting of Quad Foreign Ministers, India's External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, emphasized the need for bolstering economic resilience and enhancing supply chains among the member nations. The discussions focused on deepening partnerships and fostering cooperation in various sectors. Jaishankar noted,

“Our four nations are also market economies. We believe strongly that economic resilience should be promoted, the supply chains should be strengthened, trusted and secure technologies diffused, and production capacities enhanced.”

Jaishankar also highlighted the Quad’s commitment to maritime security, including aspects like surveillance and logistics. He reaffirmed the importance of adhering to international law regarding maritime commerce, stating,

“A free and open Indo-Pacific has many dimensions and facets. Our meeting today took stock of the progress in many of them while encouraging exploration in others.”
He underscored the necessity of addressing terrorism, advocating for a zero-tolerance policy against such threats.

Notably, the Quad Foreign Ministers' meeting in New Delhi featured Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This gathering built upon the framework established during their last meeting in Washington, D.C., on July 1, 2025, with a focus on various critical issues, including economic activity, climate resilience, and emerging security challenges. Jaishankar concluded,

“In the coming days, whether it is economic activity, energy trade or maritime commerce, the Indo-Pacific will become even more important to the world.”
